MORTENSEN RACE REPORT FOR 8/15/09 |
With the top 12 in points locked in to the first Sportsman feature on the Night of Features, Mark Mortensen started the first feature event in the seventh position but was never a factor in the event and finished one spot back from where he started in the eighth position.
After the race an inversion was chosen which was six, putting Jason Memrick on the pole for the second 15 lap feature with Mortensen starting eighth on the grid. With a last lap pass for the win Luke Munroe was the winner of the event with Mortensen getting up to the fifth position at the checkered flag.
With the fifth place finish Mortensen ended up third in the final point standings for 2009, his best finish in points in his seven year racing career. In a total of 14 events in 2009, Mortensen had two feature wins, seven top fives, and 12 top ten place finishes.
