MORTENSEN RACE REPORT FOR 7/25/09

Racing resumed at the Fonda Speedway on Saturday July, 25 with Mortensen starting sixth in his qualifying event. Problems with the Jumpin’ Jack’s Drive-In sponsored #1M forced Mark pit side after only three laps of the ten lap event. For the feature, Mortensen started way back in the 15th position and with a very loose race car that was difficult to control without spinning out he ended up 11th in the feature event which was won by David Towns. The race tightened up the point standings even more with John McAuliffe and Towns now tied for the point lead with Mark only 38 points back in the fourth spot with only four point races remaining to decide the 2009 Sportsman Track Champion at Fonda.
