MORTENSEN MOTORSPORTS 2009 SEASON RECAP |
The 2009 racing season for the Mortensen Motorsports Racing Team car #1M owned by Bonnie Mortensen-Szczerba and driven by her son Mark Mortensen was their best season ever in their seventh year of competition in the Sportsman division at the Fonda Speedway.
In a total of 14 events, Mortensen had two feature wins in 2009 to go along with seven top five and 12 top ten place finishes. At season’s end Mark achieved a career best finish in points at the Track of Champions with a third place finish in the season long point’s battle.
Mortensen didn’t have a DNF (did not finish) all season long in a feature event thanks to a very efficient maintenance program and a great pit crew consisting of crew chief Brett Mortensen, Bob Mortensen, Andy Trautman, Alisha Buehler, Lindsey Chicoubas, Derrick Anderson, Brian Mortensen, and Ron Szczerba.
Mortensen Motorsports would also like to thank the following sponsors for their support in 2009 as they look forward to working with all of them again for the 2010 racing season: Jumpin’ Jack’s Drive-In of Scotia Wolberg Electrical Supply Company Inc. First National Bank of Scotia Mortensen Electric Countryside Stove & Chimney of Burnt Hills Socha Plaza Schenectady Unit Parts Inc. Marshall & Sterling BC Designs Bill Terry Mohawk Heating & Cooling Gabriel’s Supermarket Goldstock’s Sporting Goods Mike Crispin Power Equipment Super 50 Storage Roy Matthew’s TV & Appliances Boyd’s Motorworks
Plans for 2010 are underway with many exciting things in the works for the #1M Racing Team.
A new race shop was recently completed by Mark’s father Bob and his brother and crew chief Brett where a brand new 2010 Teo chassis will be housed for the 2010 racing season. The new chassis was ordered through Jumpin’ Jack’s Pro Speed and was delivered to the Mortensen race shop on February 6. A newer enclosed trailer was also purchased and the motor for the car is currently at Boyd’s Motorworks in Gloversville, NY for a rebuild by Jack Boyd.
With no rule changes at the Fonda Speedway for the Sportsman division in 2010, Mortensen will again compete in the Sportsman division at the Track of Champions.
